Revealing the Veins of Time

Revealing the Veins of Time

2024

My artistic practice delves deeply into the intersection of history, politics, and the current situation that have affected people’s lives. Through my artwork, I explore both past events and contemporary global challenges by employing gauze bandages as my primary medium. Black bandages evoke themes of tyranny, mourning, and obscured truths within the dark chapters of history, while red bandages symbolize the violence, wounds, and bloodshed that persist around the world. Furthermore, the bandages represent the grievous injuries inflicted by war, discrimination, and injustice throughout history and in the present. These artworks that feature bandages unveil past and contemporary issues, and at the same time, they embody the potential for healing and restoration. Through the incorporation of needles and imagery of sutures, I contemplate the process of healing and emphasize the urgent need for collective action to address societal, political, and historical injustices. Mirrors and dog tags also feature prominently in my artworks, serving as symbols of self-reflection, identity, and personal accountability within the broader context of history. Dog tags, typically associated with soldiers, take on a broader meaning in today’s world, representing the preservation of identity for all individuals. I challenge my viewers to confront their roles in shaping the outcome of events and to consider whether they stand on the fair, accurate side of history.

Through my art, I aim to illuminate historical wounds and foster empathy without borders. By confronting uncomfortable truths and advocating for social change, I aspire to contribute to the healing of injustices. My ultimate goal is to inspire active engagement and solidarity among global citizens in the pursuit of a more just and equitable world.
